Scary....

So yesterday morning was one of those moments that your heart flies into your throat and you just feel sick to the core of your being.

I was actually still in bed when Ed got up to get Eliana some milk. He called me from the kitchen and said, " Kate did you leave the Children's Tylenol out last night??"

The answer was no, I had not...I had put it back in the fridge where I thought it had to go. It had a child safe cap so I thought it would be alright but apparently they are more of a child slower-downer, than a child stopper.
The night before there had been half a bottle of Tylenol left and the bottle sitting on counter was e m p t y....

The next trick was to figure out who had drank....Of course Eliana was the one to get into it but she has developed quite the habit of feeding Gabe and in the end we didn't know who drank how much. (I was secretly hoping that she had fed it to the dog - that would two problems solved!!) To say the least I was stressing. I was bundling everyone up for a trip to the emergency when Ed suggested I call poison control first.

Long story short...the poison control lady did the math and found that even if Gabe had drank the whole amount it would have still come under the dosage where there could have been serious complications.
***SIGH***

What a yecky feeling. I dumped out all the liquid medicine in the fridge that did not have child "proof" caps and the rest I put up into the locked cupboard.

I hope we don't need cough syrup anytime soon because it just went down the drain.

that would be a sick feeling! I don't think you need to keep tylenol in the fridge though, I am pretty sure that it can go in the cupboard with your liquid vitamins.

Man your kids get into everything! Actually wanna hear a funny story! When I was 4 and my sister was 2 I managed to open a new bottle of Dimetapp and drank it all. When my mom came home and found the bottle she freaked and asked me who drank it. I was afraid I would get a spanking if I was honest so I said my sister drank it. The called the Dr. and the Dr. said to bring my sister to the hospital and they pumped her stomach out only to find nothing in it. So then the Dr. asked me again who drank it, and this time i was honest and said it was me. No spanking, and my stomach did not get pumped. Instead we went home, and I got to take a nap and then bake cookies with my mom!
